Alan Webb, who had the fastest 1500-meter (3:30.54) and mile (3:46.91) times in the world in 2007, will run his first track race of 2008 at the Drake Relays in Des Moines on April 26. A year ago, he ran a virtually solo 3:51.71 at Drake to break Steve Scott’s 25-year-old meet record. That 3:46.91 we mentioned, run in Belgium last summer, broke Scott’s longstanding American record. Webb also ran the world’s second fastest 800 in 2007, a 1:43.84. He was the USA 1500-meter champion in 2008 (3:34.82) and also won the mile at the Reebok Grand Prix in New York in 3:52.94.
