Doug Logan, CEO of USATF, commissioned a group of nine people to analyze the current USATF system and recommend changes, with the primary goal of the US earning 30 medals at the London Games in 2012.  I'll write more about the report soon, but the first aspect of it that caught my eye was its reference to athletes' needs to be "more professional" and for the USATF to help set up a "professional athletes' union".  My recent article at Runnerstribe dives into this a little more:There is certainly some me... USA Track & Field CEO Doug Logan on Tuesday gave the “Leadership Luncheon” address at Running USA’s annual convention in La Jolla, California. His latest Shin Splints blog, entitled “Doing Our Part,” provides the full text of his speech, in which he addresses the role that USATF should play in uniting the long-distance running community. For nearly six months, new USATF CEO Doug Logan has put his stamp on how he would like to see the sports of track and field, cross country and road racing run in the United States.
